Premier's Council for Economic Strategy
A message from Premier Ed Stelmach
July 2, 2009
With its natural resources, hard working people and 'can do' attitude, Alberta has a great base to build on and holds tremendous opportunity for the future. Albertans are forward-thinking and know that it is important to plan today for success in the future.
To help us plan for the long-term, I've created the Premier's Council for Economic Strategy. The council will help to give an external, big-picture perspective on what Alberta needs to do to secure the province's long-term prosperity. The council will provide guidance on actions the Alberta government can take to best position the province for the future.
Chaired by noted business executive and experienced cabinet minister David Emerson, the council brings together 12 members, each of whom is a globally recognized expert in their field.
Over the next three years, the council will meet with government, experts, Albertans and others beyond Alberta to develop ideas to ensure Alberta's continued prosperity and quality of life over the next three decades.
I look forward to their input on where this province can be in the next 30 years, defining opportunities and finding made-in-Alberta strategies that we can pioneer here.
