AADAC youth detoxification and residential treatment programs incorporating specific protocols for methamphetamine (a total of 24 treatment beds) were opened in Edmonton and Calgary (November 2005). Youth may remain in treatment up to one year. New youth treatment beds included as part of Alberta Drug Strategy to combat addiction (November 17, 2005)
AADAC hosted a forum for community and drug coalitions (October 2005) that provided opportunities to share ideas, and allowed community members interested in developing a coalition to learn from the experience of others.
The Protection of Children Abusing Drugs Act received Royal Assent on May 19, 2005. The Act comes into force on July 1, 2006 and gives parents the authority to place their children (under age 18) into a mandatory drug detoxification program.
The Alberta National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program partnership was established in January 2005 to develop an action plan on crystal meth for Alberta First Nations.

Alberta Workshop on Methamphetamine: An Environmental Scan (Red Deer, September 2004). The workshop brought together more than 300 professionals and community members to discuss methamphetamine and develop recommendations for a co-ordinated provincial response.
